Hi family and friends!

We’ve arrived in our host community of Phyang. We were greeted with kathaks (white scarves) and cups of hot tea when we arrived at our guest house. We all took the day to rest and acclimate. Thupstan, our guide and new friend, has taken us on a couple of walks around the village and to the local gompa, or monastery. Today we moved into our homestays in time for an evening cup of tea and to lend a hand with dinner prep. Tomorrow we’re excited to begin English conversation classes and continue getting to know our families. We will be in touch soon, hopefully with some photos from Phyang. Stay tuned!
