First Day in Delhi!

Hi Everyone,

We made it! After a long journey, the students have been absolute troopers on our first full day in New Delhi. We had an excellent orientation on the lawns of Lodhi Gardens, under the shade of the trees. It was hot and there was lots of sweat, but like we said – troopers!

We broke for lunch and ate a North Indian feast of butter chicken, butter naan, butter paneer, kebabs, dal, papad, and some veggies here and there. We even made it to Humayun’s Tomb, one of several UNESCO World Heritage sites in New Delhi!

Later in the day we went to Fabindia, a socially responsible Indian clothing store, where everyone was able to buy traditional clothing for our time in Ladakh.

Early tomorrow morning we fly north to Leh and travel to our host community, Phyang. There, we’ll meet the families we’ll be staying with and have an introduction to our service projects. It will be a few days before you hear from us again, but we will be in touch with all our new adventures soon!
