Arrived in Agra

Hi everyone,

We’ve returned from our trek and are now in Agra! We’re excited to visit the Taj Mahal early tomorrow morning and push on to Keoladeo National Park, Fatehpur Sikri, and Bharatpur in the afternoon.

Before our trek we spent two great days on the campus of SECMOL, the Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh. Our students teamed up with their Ladakhi peers on daily campus chores, tending the school’s gardens, and meal prep. We also did a trash clean up in a nearby stream and participated in English conversation class each afternoon.

On our trek we stayed in homestays in the village of Tar, a tiny community of about 15 families in the mountains outside of Leh. We helped out around the houses, prepared community meals, and collected animal fodder for the village’s elderly residents. The trek to Tar was spectacular. We crossed the Indus River on a footbridge and hiked through a river gorge!

We’ll be in touch soon with more on our time in Agra and Bharatpur!
