Julay! (“Hello” in Ladakhi)

Hello from your leaders, John and Uttara! We just spent a marvelous weekend in Vermont putting the finishing touches on the journey we’re about to embark on. The sun was shining, the trees were green, and we were all smiles.

We’re going to be spending most of our time in Phyang, a small village about 15 kilometers west of Leh, in the Ladakh region, working on some amazing community service projects. We’ll also trek to villages in the surrounding hills, visit a sustainable school (where Uttara used to work!), and explore New Delhi, Agra, and Bharatpur.

Until our trip, we encourage each of you to read and learn as much as you can about Ladakhi history and culture. The more you know, the more the place will come alive. Most importantly though, come with an open mind and an open heart.

We can’t wait to meet you all and go on this adventure!
